Overview:
Locally advanced HNSCC remains a high-morbidity disease in which many patients complete concurrent chemoradiation (CRT) yet still face substantial risk of relapse and treatment-related toxicity. There is variability in practice regarding the optimal management of patients after CRT, including strategizing surveillance, interpreting post-treatment imaging, managing toxicities, and considering clinical trial referral. Moreover, multidisciplinary care is essential but challenges remain regarding its practical implementation.
Live Tumor Board: Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Head &
Neck – Post-CRT Decisions in the Locally Advanced Setting, held in conjunction
with the 2026 Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Cancers Symposium (MHNCS) Annual
Meeting, will feature a case-based discussion led by a multidisciplinary faculty
panel. Using realistic post-CRT cases, faculty will discuss how they approach
the management of patients in the post-CRT setting, discuss emerging therapies,
and provide practical strategies for implementing multidisciplinary care.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe the current role of post-CRT surveillance in patients with LA-HNSCC
- Apply risk-stratified strategies to determine appropriate post-CRT management for patients with LA-NSCC
- Implement coordinated multidisciplinary care plans to mitigate and manage toxicities related to CRT in patients with HNSCC
- Identify potentially eligible patients for ongoing clinical trials evaluating novel post-CRT treatment approaches
