Activity Overview

This Community Practice Connections™ program provides an in-depth review of some of the key highlights from the meeting series on clinical challenges and new opportunities in managing myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) that was held with the Association of Community Cancer Centers. This unique and engaging multimedia activity is ideal for the community-based clinician and focuses on the practical aspects of managing patients with lower- and higher-risk MDS. The program is designed for those who did not attend the live meetings and to help reinforce learnings for those who did.

Target Audience

This educational program is directed toward community-based medical oncologists, hematologic oncologists, hematologists, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and other health care professionals.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, you should be better prepared to:

  • Analyze current and emerging methods for risk stratification and risk-adapted therapeutic strategy in patients with MDS and MDS-related anemia
  • Explain the impact of MDS-related anemia and the resulting transfusion burden on patient quality of life
  • Explore efficacy and safety results from key trials on evolving approaches for the treatment of lower-risk MDS, including MDS-related anemia
  • Apply guideline recommendations to individualized patient care plans
